Where the High Priestess between her two pillars deals with realms beyond this Earth, the Hierophant (or High Priest) deals with worldly problems. He is well suited to do this because he strives to create harmony and peace in the midst of a crisis. The Hierophant's only problem is that he can be stubborn and hidebound. At his best, he is wise and soothing, at his worst, he is an unbending traditionalist.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Funny.
1. One thing that has always troubled me is the exclusively post-Medieval mentality buried within the heart of the philosophy of religion. Granted, the tying up of morality and religion in Catholicism and the validity of the existence of G/god are the main concerns of the philosophers we cover in that area, but does it have to continue as such in our time? There are religions which are not centered around gods as the Judeo-Christian-Islam traditions are, there are cultures with moral standards that clash with each other, and there are moral structures and bases of moral structures (religious or not) that are similar to each other. Why are these not discussed as often when they clearly should be to avoid under/over-representations, misunderstandings, and distortions of knowledge?

2. In the blurb of a copy of Umberto Eco's "Five Moral Pieces":

What does it mean to be moral and ethical when one doesn't believe in God?

Regardless of whether or not one believes in a G/god, why does she/he/ze ("ze" is a ridiculous-sounding pronoun, but it'll do) necessarily have to be the center of morality and ethics when, in the first place, it's already been discussed that no human mind can handle the Truth? Note that our concept of God is usually equated with Truth. The problem with this, however, is the presumption of religion that man does know the nature of God, and thus bases this whole social structure around that assumed knowledge. See the contradiction here? It's absurd and utterly arrogant of a person to think of his/her concept of a being in constant change as a static reality. What more if that other being is presumed to be the reality?

3. After years of having these thoughts in my head, they are now in writing. Finally. There are likely fragments still floating around my subconscious, but ehn.

In the span of 3 hours, I figured out

a) how to experiment with making a veggie panini (broccoli, asparagus, various cheeses, pepper, tomatoes, and possibly shitake mushrooms) - to be executed on Monday or Tuesday;

b) what my ideal room looks like (Japanese-inspired because I love the floor, but with a lot of other random stuff); and

c) what to give certain people for Christmas when January rolls around.

I also have this zabuton/sitting cushion of sorts.
Changed my layout. The header part breaks with Chrome (maybe it'll be fixed if I add an image header..?), but works in Firefox. =_= *prods it* Lj's "Customize journal Style" section is more complicated than it was when I last changed my layout, and it's still too early in the morning for this. =_= Someone tell me why the sidebar text area isn't showing up.

First day of classes again, which sucks. Have to get used to going to class again, but I do hope that the ones I got are fun. Wondering how I'd survive a 9AM class because the time's awkward. =_=

Listening to wyolica's first album, "who said 'La La..?'", which I managed to find in AME. \o/ Their CD booth is one of my favorites. Only got two this year because I'm cash strapped; the other one is a Tak Matsumoto (B'z) record. Listening to that later. What I like about wyolica is that their songs are nice to relax to, with laid back instrumentals and mellow vocals. Soothing.

Cough's still alive and kicking. Couldn't get decent sleep last night because of it and phlegm, but ehn - at least it's being expelled rather than staying in. =_=

For our purposes, "watching" a title means that for TV and OVA series, you have to have seen at least one episode. For one-shots, you have to have seen the whole thing. At the end of each genre/category, add up your sub-total. At the very end, add up the sub-totals to come up with your grand total. If your grand total is 80 or over, congratulations -- you are an obsessive anime watcher!

As an extra note: not all the titles listed here are great, and some are even steaming piles of crap. Titles on the list are here because they are either 1) genuinely good, 2) insanely popular, 3) good examples of the genre, or 4) just plain notorious. Good anime obsessives should be able to watch series with any of those qualities.

I.
I clearly fail at posting on time. Because of this, NaNoBloMo entries for this month will be tagged as "pseudo-nanoblomo nov08" from now on.

Got home past 12 after hanging out at Gel's place and met a friend of hers from another school. It was actually funny since her friend and I had similar styles: black shirt, jeans, black wrist watch, short hair. Some of our fandoms are also similar, too. We'd probably get along well enough if we talked more or something. xD The three of us watched an episode of the Hana Kimi live action before lunch, and I must say I'm convinced that I should watch this. o.o Dialogue is typical cheesy-ish japanese optimisic stuff, which is inspiring in its own way but a bit odd when you see it coming from a real person's mouth.

Went to Tomato Kick after with Gel, and we had a few drinks. Nothing spectacular, but it was okay and at a decent price. Looked at this book shop on the same floor (yes, it was open past 11.30), and found a lot of gorgeous books. *0* I want to go there again whenever I have money. ♥ ♥ ♥

Finished volume 8 in my quest to re-read Hellsing. I've always loved the confrontation between the transformed Alucard and Anderson. There's so much emotion there, and we see a rare glimpse of the other facets of Alucard. I also love the parallels drawn between Dracula's voyage to England in the novel and Alucard's return to England in the series, and the repetition of Alucard and Integra's exchange ("Welcome home, Count."; "I'm home, Countess.") in this part and at the end of the series. And there are a lot of other details that I have yet to spazz over.

Will download the complete volumes 9 and 10 soon. Somewhere.

[ETA] I hate Daylight Savings. ._.

Spent half the day with the internet, continuing last night's video spam (see: my plurk) and RP log. I like the new setting. >.> Also glad to see that my classes in abnormal psych are paying off. Note to self: photocopy Chinese Med readings for teacher next week.

Finished all the Kuroshitsuji episodes up on YouTube, waiting for the others. I really like how Sebastian is portrayed - polite and charming, talented, but oh so cold inside. He's probably the type of guy I'm going to actively avoid if I see him on the street because he's too immaculate, something that always makes me suspicious. 'Uncanny valley' much?

"Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has been stuck in my head for days now. And "Man Who Can't Be Moved" by Script (damn you, Twin and jonah). Started singing it too. Youtube vids on loop. The songs are still there even after I browsed through Aerosmith vids. |D Ah well.

Had dinner at my grandmother's house and watched a badly made documentary on ghost-related experiences. Granted, there were cool stories, but goddammit the visuals were annoying. (This is Korina Sanchez's show, if anyone was wondering). The host also kept on repeating this line excessively. =_= Mur.

Last week of "sembreak" is busy. Going out tomorrow and maybe on Friday with friends, then on Saturday to AME. Somewhere between there is registration, I forgot the day. (And to think I'm a senior. >.> Oops. Ohhhh well.)

Lastly: apparently, we need to flood the house with sunlight because bad energy is accumulating here + it'd be healthier for everyone if there was sun. I'm wondering how we'd do that - break down a wall? The sun won't reach far inside even with the curtains open.

Quick-ass entry entry before I'm dragged out of the house to visit relatives' graves.

My Halloween wasn't anything special in the let's-dress-up sort of way. What I did was to go drinking with my living relatives (Kaze, you've seen the place =P) and look for food to munch on between 1.30-2 in the morning with my dad and my uncle. Found out because of this that Kopiroti's open from 7AM-2AM, that the coffee buns cost forty and the chocolate ones forty-five, their coffee (which I have yet to taste) is forty-five, and that they have meal sets. Haven't been to the Katipunan branch even though my house is just near by. |D Got home at 3, heard a lot of interesting ghost stories before that. Lesson: pick your room/vacation house reservations wisely and avoid the ones that are sitting on top of underground tunnels left from WWII. >.>

And that's it. @_@ Maybe another post later, whenever I get back.

Flailed over updates from Naruto, TRC, and holic. Staying over my grandmother's house for now. Got back the internet a few minutes before I left the house, so I haven't checked my flist since Wednesday.

More decent update after I check my f-list, whenever that is. One more week left in the last sembreak of my life. =_= I don't want to graduate yet, but gah. Stupid economic concerns.

http://www.gamerdna.com/quizzes/bartle-test-of-gamer-psychology/take

Explorer
60% Explorer || 60% Achiever || 40% Socializer || 40% Killer

The Explorer motto: "No stone unturned!" Description:

It's not so much the wandering around and poking about, but that euphoric eureka moment the Explorer strives for. The joys of discovery do not necessarily involve geography, real or virtual. They may derive from the mental road less traveled, the uncovering of esoteric or hidden knowledge and it's creative application. Explorers make great theory crafters. The most infinitesimal bit of newness can deliver the most delicious zing to an Explorer.
Secondary influences

* Explorer Killers enjoy seeing the world, meeting interesting people...and killing them. EKs love all discovery, but finding an edge over the competition is best. Always seeking new opportunity, an EK likely knows the ten best places to find certain types of opponents, as well as ten different ways for taking them down.
* Explorer Achievers have been there, done that and have the t-shirt...in fact they have a plethora of t-shirts, badges, trophies and other rewards. EAs are the completionists of the gamer world. They like to find new places, quests, easter eggs, unlocks, maps etc. and check them off as have, visited or beaten. Like real world travelers, EAs enjoy collecting memorabilia that helps them relive their experiences later.
* Explorer Socializers are the glue of the online world. Not only do they like to delve in to find all the cool stuff, but they also enjoy sharing that knowledge with others. Explorer socializers power the wikis, maps, forums and theory craft sites of the gamer world.

Got woken up by a short sequence of particularly loud thunder crashes an hour before I was officially supposed to get up. It rained hard for a bit, which I found a bit weird since the skies were clear as they'd be on a summer day (literally; the humidity and the brightness were there, too), and now it's... not. And here I was, wondering if there would be flash floods or something that would force me to cancel today's thesis interview session.

Been up and about these past few days. Discovered the addiction that is Rock Band and Guitar Hero after only one hour with each on two separate days (damn you, tala_at_buwan and Hachiko). Survived Guitar Hero medium level.

you are beige
#F5F5DC

Your dominant hues are red and green, so you're definately not afraid to get in and stir things up. You have no time for most people's concerns, you'd rather analyze with your head than be held back by some random "gut feeling".

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

the spacefem.com html color quiz

Hmm, it's changed. I do wonder.

Because this has to be known.

BBC article

A US judge has thrown out a case against God, ruling that because the defendant has no address, legal papers cannot be served.
The suit was launched by Nebraska state senator Ernie Chambers, who said he might appeal against the ruling.
He sought a permanent injunction to prevent the "death, destruction and terrorisation" caused by God.
Judge Marlon Polk said in his ruling that a plaintiff must have access to the defendant for a case to proceed.
"Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice," Judge Polk wrote in his ruling.
Mr Chambers cannot refile the suit but may appeal.
'God knows everything'
Mr Chambers sued God last year. He said God had threatened him and the people of Nebraska and had inflicted "widespread death, destruction and terrorisation of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants".
He said he would carefully consider Judge Polk's ruling before deciding whether to appeal.
The court, Mr Chambers said, had acknowledged the existence of God and "a consequence of that acknowledgement is a recognition of God's omniscience".
"Since God knows everything," he reasoned, "God has notice of this lawsuit."
Mr Chambers, a state senator for 38 years, said he filed the suit to make the point that "anyone can sue anyone else, even God".

From PhilStar, which has a bit more info.

LINCOLN, Nebraska – A judge has thrown out a Nebraska state legislator’s lawsuit against God, saying the Almighty wasn’t properly served due to his unlisted home address.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers filed the lawsuit last year seeking a permanent injunction against God. He said God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents in Omaha, inspired fear and caused “widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants.”

Chambers has said he filed the lawsuit to make the point that everyone should have access to the courts regardless of whether they are rich or poor.

On Tuesday, however, Douglas County District Court Judge Marlon Polk ruled that under state law a plaintiff must have access to the defendant for a lawsuit to move forward.

“Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice,” Polk wrote.

Chambers, who graduated from law school but never took the bar exam, thinks he’s found a hole in the judge’s ruling.

“The court itself acknowledges the existence of God,” Chambers said Wednesday. “A consequence of that acknowledgment is a recognition of God’s omniscience.”

Therefore, Chambers said, “Since God knows everything, God has notice of this lawsuit.”

Chambers has 30 days to decide whether to appeal. He said he hasn’t decided yet.

Chambers, who has served a record 38 years in the Nebraska Legislature, is not returning next year because of term limits. He skips morning prayers during the legislative session and often criticizes Christians. – AP
